Watchdog Report Claims State IT Jobs Could be Outsourced

Posted: Sep 05, 2013 11:19 PM CDT

CHICAGO – A government watchdog organization claims up to 100 state IT jobs could soon be outsourced.

Adam Andrzejewski, who published the report as founder of OpenTheBooks.com explains that Cognizant Technology Solutions, the business that Governor Pat Quinn just awarded a $71.4 million staffing contract to, is ranked nationally for outsourcing.

The contract, Andrzejewski says, was awarded as a means of updating the state’s Medicaid Management Information System, now a federal requirement under ObamaCare.

And according to Andrzejewski, Cognizant has begun holding open interviews in India, for people with knowledge of Medicaid and MMIS.

Moreover, Andrzejewski says federal planning documents reveal that Cognizant is set to charge Illinois $218,560 per position per year, for work, while currently senior state experts cost about $150,000 annually.

On Thursday, Governor Quinn’s press office did not return phone calls.
