With The Election Over, Here's What You Can Do

Watchdogs in Illinois

Read my Forbes editorial

November 6, 2014

Two regular guys from Southern Illinois, Kirk Allen and John Kraft, became folk heroes after lawfully "citizen arresting" their park district board. Now, their fight against corruption threatens to shake the established political order.

llinois is the super-bowl of corruption.  But, it's a target rich environment for watchdogs. Mr. Allen and Mr. Kraft are showing the way...

In just 22 months, here's a quick summary of impact:

  • 102 Illinois public officials fled, resigned, or were fired from their public positions!
  • Lawfully "Citizen Arrested" an entire unit of Illinois government- the Clark County Park District.
  • Helped write and pass a 911 Board reform bill (HB3207)- which received unanimous vote in both chambers and governor signed into law (2013).
  • Helped write legislation allowing gun sales by county sheriff (currently illegal in Illinois), HB4860. Passed the House and now sits in Senate.

And much, much more...

Sadly, the Watchdogs don't get much help from state or local law enforcement agencies. The top cop in Illinois, Attorney General Lisa Madigan, has refused to prosecute referred cases.

Yet, at the federal level, the federal Office of Inspector General, Federal Bureau of Investigations, and Department of Energy have opened investigations based on the Watchdog's information.

FIND OUT HOW THE WATCHDOGS DO IT - READ MY FORBES COLUMN "WATCHDOGS IN ILLINOIS."
